ISTITUTO COMPRENSIVO VAL RENDENA

Istituto Comprensivo Val Rendena is located in Trentino-Alto Adige, a region in the north-east of Italy. The economy of the valley is based on tourism: thanks to its beautiful mountains, visitors come to ski in the winter and hike in the summer. Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo are famous for their ski slopes. The highest peaks are Cima Presanella (3558 m a.s.l.) in the granitic area of Adamello on the west side and Cima Tosa (3136 m a.s.l.) in the calcareous mountain group of Brenta Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site.

A large area of the valley falls within the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park.

Istituto Comprensivo Val Rendena consists of ten small schools placed in seven different villages along Rendena Valley. There are three lower secondary schools (Spiazzo, Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio) and seven primary schools (Darè, Spiazzo, Caderzone Terme, Giustino, Pinzolo, Carisolo and Madonna di Campiglio).

The main school, where the principal and the administrative staff are, is in the village of Pinzolo, which is about 13 km from Madonna di Campiglio further up the valley and the same distance from Daré further down.

About 120 primary and secondary school teachers work at Istituto Comprensivo Val Rendena. There are about 800 students aged 6 to 14 years old.

Students come from very different social class backgrounds.

Transport can be an issue as the closest city, Trento, is an hour drive away and it can take more than an hour and a half to reach it by public transport (coach).
