ICVR Italy ME

Dissemination event report

The dissemination event, which was open to everyone, was held in Pinzolo, at the “Paladolomiti”, a big building used as a cinema, a theater and for the organization of major events.

The teachers of the primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary schools of the surrounding area were invited to the event, as well as their administrative staff, the students’ parents and the local administrators. The purpose was to involve the whole community, so that the dissemination of these good practices was as widespread as possible and everyone could understand the importance of participating in this type of project.

The organizers and participants in the project themselves were the speakers of the event as it was considered important to directly testify its effectiveness.

The meeting was moderated by a journalist who advertised the event in the local newspaper too. To encourage the participation and attention of the public, the event was structured with an alternation of interventions in Italian and English.

After the greetings of the ICVR principal, prof. Prigiotti Giuseppe, the intervention of the Italian project manager, prof. Mosca Emilio, initially focused on the bureaucratic tasks as a partner school: the type of reporting on the activity carried out and on the trips made, the breakdown of the budget, the eligible expenses… That’s an important topic for anyone wishing to embark on a similar adventure. Then he focused on how the ICVR became a partner of the project.

The subsequent intervention by Ciarán Bauer, chief manager of the project, focused on the project idea, on how this project originated from another European project, namely Bridge 21, and on the outputs of the “Access 21- Empowering Student” project.

Prof. Monica Catturani, one of the Italian teachers that took part in the project, presented the ICVR “Orientamento” project, which includes many activities to “orient” the students of the lower secondary school to the upper level. Then she focused on the possible changes that could be made to the “Orientamento” project based on the experience gained during the Erasmus+ project.

The speech by prof. Iñaki Garay Molina and the other Spanish teachers briefly covered the Spanish school system. Then it dwelled on the most significant effect produced in Ribera Baixa Institute by the participation of its teachers in the project, namely the “Libertas” initiative: a physical meeting space for students in which to discuss gender diversity, gender violence and LGBTQ+ topics in general…

Subsequently, the other Italian teachers, prof. Camilla Laviola, prof. Lorena Pellegrino, prof. Saba Terzi and prof. Stefano De Toni brought their testimony on their experience, how the project made them grow professionally and influenced their approach to teaching.

A second intervention by the chief manager Ciarán Bauer concerned the future prospects of the project and the possible new lines of research that could be pursued.

After an appropriate Question Time, in which the participants were able to clarify some doubts or deepen some topics, and the final thanks from the ICVR principal, the discussion between the speakers and some listeners continued at the restaurant in a convivial moment.

Participation was satisfactory, given the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
